Surgery in Schools

The HYMS Surgical Society works closely with local schools to promote access to medical school and careers in surgery. The society committee in conjunction with the Royal College of Surgeons and local surgeons teach basic suture skills and answer questions about getting into medical school, work experience, personal statements etc. at sessions at local schools.

We also work closely with HYMS widening participations providing opportunities for the sixth form students that they work with. This year the surgical society funded places for widening participation students at the HYMS National Undergraduate Surgical Conference.
